What Is Sprayed-in-Place-Pipelining?
Sprayed-in-Place Pipelining (SIPP) is a trenchless method of lining the insides of pipes in order to restore them without excavation. It is NSF61 approved, so it’s safe to use on freshwater lines as well as sewer lines.
SIPP can solve issues such as:
- Broken sewer lines
- Root-damaged lines
- Collapsed pipes
- Damaged water lines
How Does It Work?
First, your Hall’s Plumbing technician will perform a video inspection of your pipes to check their condition and determine if they are strong enough to withstand pipe cleaning and SIPP installation. Some severely worn or corroded pipes may need to be replaced.
The next step in the process is a thorough cleaning of the pipes to ensure that every bit of debris and corrosion is removed. Once the pipes have been cleaned out, the lining process can begin. A flexible hose and spray head (specifically designed for the diameter of the pipe) are inserted into the pipe to be lined.
The spray head is positioned at one end of the pipe and slowly pulled through the pipe, spraying the coating onto the interior pipe walls as it goes. The spray head dispenses the epoxy resin coating similar to how you would spray paint a wall.
Once the coating has dried, your plumbing technician will perform a final pipe inspection to ensure that the pipe has been completely coated.

Advantages of Trenchless Pipe Rehabilitation
The process of installing cured-in-place piping is fairly straightforward; resulting in an impermeable layer that creates a perfect seal within the pipe. Other benefits of CIPP include:
- COST SAVINGS: Since no landscaping, walls, driveways, or basements are destroyed, CIPP is cheaper than traditional “dig and replace” pipe repair methods.
- SPEED: Repairs are done faster, so you can get back to your normal life quicker.
- CLEANLINESS: Little to no excavation means there’s no mess after the project is completed.
SIPP also has many advantages, not only over traditional pipe replacement but even over other pipelining methods. These include:
- Extending the life of your pipes
- More affordable than traditional pipe replacement
- Completely trenchless, so there’s no need to ruin your lawn with excavation
